Appointments to Women's Commission

     The Government today (September 9) gazetted the appointments of Dr Trisha Leahy and Professor Lam Ching-man as members of the Women's Commission with effect from September 15, 2011, to January 14, 2013.

     Dr Leahy is the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Sports Institute. Professor Lam is an Associate Professor at the Social Work Department of the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

     "I am pleased to announce the appointments of Dr Leahy and Professor Lam. I am confident that their expertise and rich experience in social and community services will be an added asset to the Commission," the Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Matthew Cheung kin-chung, said.

     The Commission was set up on January 15, 2001, as a central mechanism to promote the well-being and interests of women in Hong Kong. It plays a strategic role in advising the Government on policies and initiatives on women's issues.
