Man charged with wounding

     Police today (September 7) charged a 20-year-old man with wounding and the case will be heard in Kwun Tong Magistrates' Courts in his absence tomorrow morning (September 8).

     The man was suspected to have tried to attack a police constable with a knife at Wang Lok House in Lok Fu Estate yesterday morning (September 6). After giving verbal warnings to the man but in vain, the police constable fired four shots at the man but the man did not stop to attack. A sergeant then fired two more shots to subdue the man.

     The man sustained shot wounds to his arm and waist while the police constable sustained cut wound to his arm. They were sent to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for medical treatment. The man is still admitted at the hospital in critical condition.

     Investigations by the Regional Crime Unit of Kowloon East are under way.
