Restaurant in Sham Shui Po ordered to suspend business
******************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Sham Shui Po to suspend business for 14 days. The operator repeatedly extended its food business illegally, in breach of the Food Business Regulation.

The restaurant, located at Shop H on the ground floor at 171-175 Pratas Street, was ordered to suspend business from today (September 7) to September 20.

"In June and July this year, two convictions on the breach were recorded against the food premises," a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said.

"A total fine of $7,200 was levied by the court and 30 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," he added.

The licensee of the food premises also had a record of two convictions in August 2009 and July last year for improper storage of open food in the premises and illegal extension of food business. A total fine of $4,200 was levied and 15 demerit points were registered. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days from September 16 to 22 last year.

The spokesman reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the Food Business Regulation, or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
