Police open fire in Wong Tai Sin

     Police are investigating a Police open fire case in which a 34-year-old police constable and a 20-year-old man were injured in Wong Tai Sin this morning (September 6).

     About 8.40am, Police received a report that a man attempted to commit suicide at a unit of Wang Lok House in Lok Fu Estate. Police arrived at the scene and located the 20-year-old man in the corridor outside the unit. The man, who armed with a knife, tried to attack a police constable.

     After giving verbal warnings to the man but in vain, the police constable fired four shots at the man but the man did not stop to attack. A sergeant then fired two more shots to subdue the man.

     The man sustained shot wounds to his arm and waist while the police constable sustained cut wound to his arm. They were sent to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for medical treatment.

     The man was arrested for assaulting police officer. Investigations by the Regional Crime Unit of Kowloon East are under way.
