Mr Tsang said, "We all hope to build a caring society in our home, Hong Kong. The Government promotes a caring culture and strives to enhance social harmony. By joining hands with people in different sectors, we can help our society move forward with continuing improvements."

Mr Tsang said he believes the exemplary role of the award recipients could encourage more citizens to commit themselves to building a better society together. He hoped that people would continue to make an effort to serve the community and build a better future for Hong Kong.

The Secretary for Home Affairs' Commendation Scheme, introduced in 2002, aims to recognise individuals who make outstanding contributions to community building, social service as well as the development of sports, culture and the arts.
