Fatal traffic accident in Tuen Mun

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Tuen Mun this morning (September 4) in which a 41-year-old female private car passenger was killed.

     At About 9.25am, a private car driven by a 40-year-old man was travelling along Yuen Long Highway towards Yuen Long. When reaching Fu Tai Estate, the private car broke down and stopped on the carriageway. A light goods vehicle (LGV) driven by a 42-year-old man reportedly rammed into the private car from behind.

     The private car driver and four passengers onboard sustained injuries and were conveyed to Tuen Mun Hospital and Princess Margaret Hospital respectively. One of the passengers, a 41-year-old female, who was rushed to Tuen Mun Hospital, was certified dead at 10.56am.

     The LGV driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death. He is on bail pending further investigation.

     Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North are under way.
