Draft Mau Ping Development Permission Area Plan gazetted
********************************************************

The Town Planning Board today (August 26) announced the publication of the draft Mau Ping Development Permission Area (DPA) Plan.

The draft Mau Ping DPA Plan covers an area of about 45 hectares. It is located at the top of a hill saddle between Ma On Shan and Sai Kung, and is encircled by Ma On Shan Country Park.

A spokesman for the Town Planning Board said the general planning intention is to protect the conservation and landscape value of the area, which complements the overall naturalness and the landscape beauty of the surrounding Ma On Shan Country Park. The planning intention is also to reflect the existing recognised villages of Mau Ping and Wong Chuk Shan.

About 1.25 hectares of the area is zoned "Village Type Development" to reflect the existing recognised villages. The remaining 44.01 hectares of the area is designated as "Unspecified Use", pending detailed analysis and studies to establish the appropriate land uses in the course of preparing an Outline Zoning Plan.

The draft Mau Ping DPA Plan is now available for public inspection during office hours at the secretariat of the Town Planning Board; the Planning Enquiry Counters of the Planning Department in North Point and Sha Tin; the Sha Tin, Tai Po and North District Planning Office; the Sha Tin District Office; and the Sha Tin Rural Committee.

Any person may make written representations in respect of the draft plan to the Secretary of the Board on or before October 26.

Copies of the draft plan are available for sale at the Map Publications Centres in North Point and Yau Ma Tei. The electronic version of the plan can be viewed at the Town Planning Board's website (www.info.gov.hk/tpb).
