********************************************************

The Town Planning Board today (August 19) announced the publication of the draft Tung A and Pak A Development Permission Area (DPA) Plan.

The draft Tung A and Pak A DPA Plan covers a total area of about 20.41 hectares.  It comprises three sub-areas, namely, Tung A, Pak A and Chau Tsai.  Tung A and Pak A are completely enclosed by the Sai Kung East Country Park whilst Chau Tsai is a small island located to the east of Pak A.

A spokesman for the Town Planning Board said the general planning intention is to protect the natural and landscape character of the area which complements the overall naturalness and the landscape beauty of the surrounding Sai Kung East Country Park.

About 2.12 hectares of the land area is zoned "Village Type Development" to reflect the existing recognised villages of Tung A and Pak A, and the fishermen settlement at Sha Kiu Tau.  The remaining 18.29 hectares of land area is designated as "Unspecified Use", pending detailed analysis and studies to establish the appropriate land uses in the course of preparing an Outline Zoning Plan.

The draft Tung A and Pak A DPA Plan is now available for public inspection during office hours at the Secretariat of the Town Planning Board, Planning Enquiry Counters in North Point and Sha Tin, the Sai Kung and Islands District Planning Office, the Sai Kung District Office, and the Sai Kung Rural Committee.

Any person may make representations in respect of the draft plan to the Secretary of the Board on or before October 19.

Copies of the draft plan are available for sale at the Map Publications Centres in North Point and Yau Ma Tei.  The electronic version of the plan can be viewed on the Town Planning Board's website at (www.info.gov.hk/tpb).
