Appointments to the Occupational Safety and Health Council

     The Government today (August 19) announces that Mr Conrad Wong Tin-cheung is appointed as Chairman of the Occupational Safety and Health Council (the Council). Dr Alan Chan Hoi-shou is appointed as Vice-chairman and Mr Poon Siu-ping as a member of the Council.  They are appointed for a term of two years starting from August 22, 2011.

     The above appointments are made consequential to the expiry of the current term of the incumbent Chairman on August 21, 2011.

     A Government spokesman said, "We are grateful to the outgoing Chairman, Mr Lee Kai-ming, who has taken up the position of Chairman of the Council since 2007, for his active participation in the work of the Council over the past 16 years.  His contribution to the Council is nothing but outstanding."

     The Council is constituted under the Occupational Safety and Health Council Ordinance with the task of promoting a safe and healthy working environment in Hong Kong.  The appointments are published in the Gazette today.
