Court ordered to confiscate duo's crime proceeds

     The District Court today (August 16) ordered to confiscate the crime proceeds of two female money launderer, aged 44 and 48, with a total amount of about $770,000.  

     The Court heard that the officers of Narcotics Bureau arrested a 45-year-old man for trafficking in dangerous drugs with a seizure of about 1.1 kg cocaine powder in 2008. Further investigations revealed that the man together with three women, aged from 40 to 48, were also in connection with money laundering activities. They were all arrested and subsequently charged last year. The four defendants were sentenced to imprisonment ranging from 18 to 28 months.

     The Court granted the order to two of the defendants to confiscate their crime proceeds today.

     Police reiterate that money laundering is a serious crime. Police will continue to combat against those illegal activities and offender's crime proceeds will be confiscated.
