Police's response to media enquiries
************************************

In response to media enquires on a case happened in Admiralty yesterday (August 11), a Police spokesman made the following statement:

About 6.20pm yesterday (August 11), Police found a man and two women acting suspiciously on the third floor of the Low Block at 1 Tim Wa Avenue in Admiralty. When the trio was requested to provide details of their identities and reasons for their presence, they gave different explanations at different junctures, saying that they were public officers, visitors or they had lost their way. Two of them also produced two visitor cards which were suspected to be invalid. As the trio failed to produce a convincing explanation of their presence, they were arrested for burglary and were brought to Central Police Station for further enquiries.

Police then reviewed video tapes recorded at scene and obtained statements from duty security officers for investigation. As a result, it was believed that the trio did not have any criminal intent to burgle and they were released unconditionally after verbally warned.

Police reiterated that as the trio was not able to provide a convincing explanation of their presence, Police made the arrest based on reasonable suspicion.
