Memorandum of Understanding between Hong Kong Monetary Authority and Taiwan Financial Supervisory Commission (with photo)

The following is issued on behalf of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority:

     The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) and the Taiwan Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) today (August 11) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for banking supervisory cooperation between the two authorities.  

     The MoU was signed by Chief Executive of the HKMA, Mr Norman Chan, and Vice Chairperson of the FSC, Dr Jih-Chu Lee.

     An HKMA spokesman said, "Given the increasing economic and financial links between Hong Kong and Taiwan, the signing of the MoU will facilitate supervisory cooperation in relation to cross border banking matters. This MoU is the latest one in a series of MoUs signed between the HKMA and other banking supervisory authorities."
