Pianist Nikolai Demidenko to perform all-Liszt recital in September
**********************************************************

Internationally renowned pianist Nikolai Demidenko will perform an all-Liszt recital in Hong Kong in September, celebrating the bicentenary of the birth of the great composer.

Featuring Liszt's monumental "Sonata in B minor", a challenging milestone in the whole piano repertoire, as well as "Ballade No. 1", "Ballade No. 2", "Legend No. 1", "Legend No. 2" and "Concert Paraphrase on Verdi's 'Rigoletto'", the recital will be held at 8pm on September 29 (Thursday) at the Concert Hall, Hong Kong City Hall.

Nikolai Demidenko began playing the piano at the age of 5. Since winning the third prize in the 1978 International Tchaikovsky Piano Competition, he has enjoyed a brilliant international career as a sought-after concert pianist, becoming a frequent guest at major concert halls and music festivals around the world both as a recitalist and as a concerto soloist with leading international orchestras and conductors. Invariably acclaimed for his interpretation of the Russian repertoire, Demidenko excels in a wide range, from Bach and Scarlatti to Mendelssohn and Chopin.

Demidenko's passionate piano playing means that he is in demand worldwide. He has worked with many conductors and orchestras internationally, and has a flourishing relationship with the St. Petersburg Philharmonic and Yuri Temirkanov, with whom he performs regularly. He also enjoys fruitful collaborations with several Russian artists who have made London their home.
