Come join Sport For All Day
***************************

A spokesman for the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) today (August 3) called on members of the public to enrol for the remaining free recreation programmes on Sport For All Day on August 7. The public can register at LCSD District Leisure Services Offices or designated venues in the 18 districts for the remaining places available on a first-come-first-served basis.

During Sport For All Day, a series of free recreation programmes will be provided at designated sports centres in the 18 districts from 2pm to 6pm. The free programmes include activities related to this year's main theme of fitness walking: health talks and exercise demonstrations, fitness corners, parent-child sports programmes and a sports activity for the middle-aged, the elderly and the disabled as well as sports demonstrations. Apart from enrolling in advance, members of the public may also walk in and join the programmes.

Fitness walking activities will also be held simultaneously at four designated walking tracks in Ma On Shan Promenade, Hong Kong Park, Po Kong Village Road Park and Tsing Yi Park at 3.30pm on August 7 to promote sports in the community. Instructors from the Physical Fitness Association of Hong Kong, China, will lead the walks and give demonstrations on fitness walking to illustrate the correct walking posture and method. Members of the public are welcome to enrol for the event.

The spokesman said that limited sessions of free use of leisure facilities on Sport For All Day are still available. Those interested should make bookings as soon as possible.

Facilities with limited free sessions still available for booking are table tennis tables, tennis courts, bowling greens, golf facilities, fitness rooms and squash courts. Most of the free sessions for multi-purpose arenas in sports centres (which can be converted into badminton, basketball, volleyball and netball courts) have already been taken up.

Members of the public who are interested in taking up these limited free sessions are urged to visit the Leisure Link booking counters at LCSD venues as early as possible to make bookings before the sessions are taken up. Each person may book only one session irrespective of the type of leisure facility.

No prior booking is required for the LCSD's public swimming pools on Sport For All Day on August 7. The public can gain free admission to the pools on a first-come-first-served basis by queueing outside the entrance of the pools before the opening of each session. As Wan Chai Swimming Pool is only for group training, it will not be open for free use on August 7.

The spokesman appealed to people who have enrolled for programmes and booked facilities to arrive on time and to make the best use of the free services. Those who are not able to take up the booked facilities should cancel their booked sessions as early as possible by submitting a booking cancellation form or confirming their cancellation in writing.
