HA suspends use of antibiotics as recall ordered by DH

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:
The Hospital Authority (HA) spokesperson today (August 2) announced that public hospitals and clinics have immediately suspended the dispensing of Augmentin 1g tablet (HK-42252) manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline Limited (GSK) in accordance with the recall ordered by the Department of Health (DH). HA will provide patients with the same class of drug from other supply sources to ensure normal patient services.
HA advised patients dispensed with the drug not to stop using the drug abruptly. HA will be in close liaison with the DH and follow up with GSK on the issue.
