A tale of two postmen
*********************

Despite the generation gap, a postman about to retire and a new postman half his age joined Hongkong Post for the same reason. They both wanted a stable job in which they could serve the community.

Sixty-year-old Lam Yau-tim has been delivering mail for 41 years. While the job is physically challenging, it is also satisfying, he says. His clients in villages in Yuen Long say he is a good and responsible postman.

Thirty two-year-old Yip Shing-hong, who graduated from City University of Hong Kong's managerial statistics programme, joined Hongkong Post as a postman last year. For him, mail delivery is more than a job. It is a mission to safeguard people's trust in the postal service.

The story appeared in text and video versions on the news.gov.hk website today (July 31).
