The Legislative Council (LegCo) Panel on Manpower continues its duty visit in Korea today (July 27) and will meet with the Economic and Social Development Commission and Korean Confederation of Trade Unions to gain a better understanding of the implementation of standard working hours in Korea.
On its second day of visit in Seoul yesterday (July 26), the delegation met with representatives from the Korea Labour Foundation, which is an influential tripartite organisation in employment, labour as well as the enhancement of exchange and cooperation between Korea and the international community. With its board of directors comprising the heads of the Federation of Korean Trade Unions (FKTU) and the Korea Employers Federation, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Employment and Labour and the Economic and Social Development Commission.
In the afternoon, the delegation met with the Korea Labour Institute a government-funded research institute, to understand the impact of the phased implementation of standard working hours on employers, employees and the society. The delegation also met with FKTU, the largest national federation of trade unions in Korea, to learn about their views on the implementation of standard working hours in Korea.
