Public forums on refined regulatory framework for pesticide residues in food (with photo)

     The Food and Health Bureau and the Centre for Food Safety are conducting a public consultation on the proposed refined regulatory framework for pesticide residues in food. Members of the public are invited to attend the three public forums to be held on July 28, August 20 and August 30 to express their views.

     The refined regulatory framework aims to strengthen the regulation of pesticide residues in food in order to better protect public health, facilitate effective regulation and promote harmonisation between local and international standards.

     Details of the refined regulatory framework are set out in the consultation document, which may be downloaded from the website of the Food and Health Bureau (www.fhb.gov.hk) or the Centre for Food Safety (www.cfs.gov.hk) or obtained from the following locations:

- Communication Resource Unit (CRU) of the Centre for Food Safety (8/F, Fa Yuen Street Municipal Services Building, 123A Fa Yuen Street, Mong Kok, Kowloon);
- District Environmental Hygiene Offices of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department; and
- District Offices of the Home Affairs Department.

     Details of the public forums are as follows:

Date: July 28 (Thursday)
Time: 10am to noon
Place: Hall, 2/F, Lai Chi Kok Government Offices, 19 Lai Wan Road, Lai Chi Kok, Kowloon

Date: August 20 (Saturday)
Time: 10am to noon
Place: Lecture Theatre, Hong Kong Central Library, 66 Causeway Road, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong

Date: August 30 (Tuesday)
Time: 2.30pm to 4.30pm
Place: Lecture Hall, 1/F, Hong Kong Science Museum, 2 Science Museum Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon

     Members of the public who are interested to attend may call 2381 6096 during office hours for seat reservation.

     They may also complete the enrolment form, which can be downloaded from www.cfs.gov.hk/english/whatsnew/whatsnew_fstr/files/RRF_Enrolment.pdf, and return it to the CRU by fax (2787 3638) or email (chjong@fehd.gov.hk).
