Booking for free admission to LCSD's leisure facilities during Sport For All Day to start from Sunday
********************************************************

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) welcomes members of the public to make free use of its various fee-charging leisure facilities during the Sport For All Day on August 7 (Sunday), in an effort to encourage people to enjoy doing physical exercise on a regular basis.

     From 9.30am on July 31 (Sunday), people can make bookings for a wide range of leisure facilities, which have not been block-booked by organisations on August 7, at all Leisure Link booking counters at LCSD venues on a first-come, first-served basis.

     The leisure facilities open to free use by the public on August 7 include:

* Indoor leisure facilities including badminton courts, tennis courts, basketball courts, netball courts, volleyball courts, squash courts, table tennis tables, billiard tables, sport climbing walls, bowling greens, golf facilities, fitness rooms, activity rooms and dance rooms;

* Outdoor leisure facilities covering tennis courts, bowling greens, batting cages, rope courses, sport climbing walls, archery ranges and golf facilities;

* Public swimming pools (except Wan Chai Swimming Pool); and

* Crafts at water sports centres.

     Camp facilities, sports grounds and turf pitches will not be included in the free use scheme.

     Each person can book only one free session of the leisure facilities irrespective of the types. No prior booking is required for free admission to the LCSD's swimming pools on August 7. Those interested should line up at the entrance to the pools before the start of each session on that day for free admission on a first-come, first-served basis.

     If a hirer fails to take up the booked leisure facility 10 minutes after the starting time of the booked session, the facility will be reallocated to any walk-in participants on a first-come, first-served basis. The walk-in participant who is so allocated a facility does not need to surrender the facility to the original hirer upon the latter's arrival.

     The LCSD appeals to hirers to make the best use of the booked facilities and to arrive at the facilities on time. Hirers who are not able to take up the booked facilities should cancel their booked sessions as early as possible by filling out the booking cancellation form or confirming their cancellation in writing and sending the information together with the permit to the LCSD by fax, by email or in person. The booking cancellation form is available at all Leisure Link booking counters at LCSD venues and can be downloaded from the Sport For All Day dedicated homepage: www.lcsd.gov.hk/specials/sfad2011/en/index.php .

     All users of leisure facilities should observe the Conditions of Use of Recreation and Sports Facilities under the LCSD. Swimmers should help keep swimming pools clean and hygienic. People should not use the swimming pool facilities if they do not feel well. They should put on a clean swimsuit and use the toilet if necessary and should not defecate or vomit in the pools. Before entering the pool deck areas, they should shower in the changing rooms and walk through the shower baths and footbaths.

     During the Sport For All Day on August 7, a series of free recreation programmes will be provided at designated sports centres in the 18 districts to encourage people to do more exercise on a regular basis. In addition to activities related to the main theme of fitness walking this year, the programmes will include health talks and exercise demonstrations, fitness corners, parent-child sports programmes and a sports play-in for the middle-aged, the elderly and the disabled as well as sports demonstrations.

     Enrolment for the above free programmes started on July 18. The public can visit LCSD District Leisure Services Offices or designated venues in the 18 districts to enrol for the remaining places available on a first-come, first-served basis.
