HA suspends use of antibiotics as recall ordered by DH

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:
The Hospital Authority (HA) spokesperson today (July 18) announced that public hospitals and clinics have immediately suspended the dispensing of Augmentin 375mg tablet (Registration number: HK-47298), manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline Limited (GSK) in accordance with the recall ordered by the Department of Health (DH). HA will provide patients with other antibiotics with the same efficacy to ensure normal patient services.
HA advised patients dispensed with the drug not to stop using the drug abruptly. HA will be in close liaison with the DH and follow up with GSK on the issue.
