Intellectual Property Department launches new web-based teaching kit
********************************************************

Intellectual Property Department (IPD) today (July 15) launched the "IP Teen City" website (www.ip-kids.gov.hk). The new website includes a web-based teaching kit that aims to promote awareness of and respect for intellectual property (IP) among the younger generation.

As a revamped version of the department's website for children ("IP Interactive Zone"), "IP Teen City" is divided into two sections, "Kids Zone" and "Youth Zone". When youngsters use the website, two main characters, Ivy and Perry, take them on an exploration of the world of IP and teach them the basic concepts of IP.

The newly designed "Games Corner" offers different interactive games that aim to stimulate the users' interest and strengthen their understanding of IP within an interactive learning mode. In the "Teachers' Corner", teachers can find in-depth materials on IP aspects that will enhance their knowledge of IP and help them to prepare IP-related teaching materials.

The "IP Teen City" website is available in traditional Chinese, simplified Chinese and English-language versions. The public and youngsters in particular are encouraged to make good use of the website to learn more about IP.

One of the IPD's main objectives is to improve young people's awareness of intellectual property rights. With this goal in mind, the IPD has arranged various promotional activities in the past, including the School Visit Programme, the IP Tutor Programme in Schools and the Interactive Drama Programme on Anti-Internet Piracy. Promotional materials and learning aids have also been produced for teachers and students, including the "Let's Protect Intellectual Property Learning Guidebook", the "Anti Piracy Action Team" computer game and comics on IP.
