Appointment of Leveraged Foreign Exchange Trading Arbitration Panel members

     The Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang, has made several appointments in respect of the Leveraged Foreign Exchange Trading Arbitration Panel.

     Mr Justin Chan Siu-chung is re-appointed as the Chairman. Mr Lawrence Lam Yuk-kun, a current member of the Panel, is appointed as the new Deputy Chairman. A serving member, Mr Philip Lau Cheuk-hang, is reappointed, and two new members, Ms Rosita Lee Pui-shan and Mr Woody Chan Kang-muk, are appointed to the Panel. Ms Lee is the Head of Investment Product Business and Assistant General Manager of Hang Seng Bank. Mr Woody Chan is the Treasurer of Citic Bank International.
 
     The appointments, made under the Securities and Futures (Leveraged Foreign Exchange Trading) (Arbitration) Rules, are for a term of three years with effect from July 17 (Sunday).

     A Government spokesman said today (July 15), "Members of the Panel are all senior members of the financial services sector. We are thankful to the re-appointees for continuing to make their service available to the Panel. With their expertise and experience, we are confident that the two new members would be able to contribute to the Panel.

     "We would also like to thank two outgoing members, Mr Eddie Tan Cheng-soo and Mr Andrew Fung Hau-chung, for their contributions to the Panel over the past five years."

     The Panel was established under the Securities and Futures Ordinance to arbitrate disputes between corporations licensed by the Securities and Futures Commission for carrying out leveraged foreign exchange trading and their clients.
