**************************************************

The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Bureau, Mr Gregory So, attended a live question-and-answer session on the Chief Executive's Office (CEO) Facebook page "Upper Albert Road" today (July 12) to discuss with the public matters relating to the Competition Law.

The question-and-answer session was conducted live on the CEO Facebook page (www.facebook.com/UpperAlbertRoad) at 7pm. During the 45-minute session, Mr So addressed questions and suggestions from participants on the objectives and content of the Competition Bill, the protection of small and medium-sized enterprises, public education, the legislative timetable and the successes of overseas experiences.

"I am thankful for the views and questions conveyed by our friends on the Internet. I trust that this exchange has deepened their understanding of the Competition Bill, which is closely linked to our daily lives. The government endeavours to ensure there is a healthy and competitive market and to protect consumers from the impacts of anti-competitive behaviour," Mr So said.

For questions not answered during the session because of time constraints, the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau will provide collective responses on the CEO Facebook page.

The question-and-answer session aims to enrich the platforms for public engagement. Each time a current issue of public interest will be selected for discussion. Members of the public are welcome to ask questions and share their views and opinions, and the relevant departments will respond. The full version of each session will be uploaded to "Upper Albert Road", the CEO's YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/CEOffice) and the CEO's Tudou channel (www.tudou.com/home/_79754323).
