Eligible persons reminded to register as electors by July 16
************************************************************

Eligible persons who have yet to register as electors are reminded to submit their applications on or before the registration deadline on July 16 (Saturday), so that they can vote in the District Council election in November this year.

"Hong Kong permanent residents holding an identity document who have reached 18 years of age and ordinarily reside in Hong Kong are eligible to be registered as electors," a spokesman for the Registration and Electoral Office (REO) said today (July 6).

"Registered electors do not need to register again, but they should report any change of address or other registration particulars to the REO by August 29," the spokesman said.

To save paper and protect the environment, electors are encouraged to provide or update their email addresses, which will be provided to the candidates concerned for sending election advertisements.

Forms for voter registration or to report changes in registration particulars are available from the REO, District Offices and the management offices of public housing estates. They can also be downloaded from the voter registration website at www.voterregistration.gov.hk .

Completed forms can be mailed to the REO at 10/F, Guardian House, 32 Oi Kwan Road, Wan Chai, or sent by fax to 2891 1180.

For enquiries, please call 2891 1001.
