Police are investigating a traffic accident in Sheung Shui this morning (June 29) in which an 86- year-old woman was killed.
At about 7.50am, a light goods vehicle (LGV) driven by a 49-year-old man was travelling along San Wan Road towards Sheung Shui. When approaching near Fanling Wai, the LGV reportedly knocked down an 86-year-old woman who was crossing the road.
The woman sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Prince of Wales Hospital in semi-conscious state. She was later certified dead at 9.09am.
The 49-year-old driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is still being detained for further enquiries.
Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North are underway.
