46 building plans approved in May

     The Buildings Department approved 46 building plans in May, with 18 on Hong Kong Island, 14 in Kowloon and 14 in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, 28 were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, nine were for commercial developments, eight were for factory and industrial developments, and one was for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 14 building projects that, when completed, will provide 14 871 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 132 units, and 70 431 square metres of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 14 building projects.

     The department also issued 19 occupation permits, with five on Hong Kong Island, five in Kowloon and nine in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 65 616 square metres, involving 961 units, and 161 579 square metres for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in May totalled about $2.8 billion.

     In addition, 11 demolition consents involving 11 building structures were issued.

     The department received 3 312 complaints about unauthorised building works in May, and issued 584 removal orders on unauthorised works.
