The Government today (June 24) announced the appointment of five members to the Education Commission (EC).
The newly appointed members are the Coordinator for Pre-School Education, the Salvation Army, Ms Ng Yin-kam; the Vice-President of the Hong Kong Federation of Education Workers, Mr Tang Fei; and the Vice-President of the Hong Kong Professional Teachers' Union, Mr Wong Hak-lim. Two incumbent members, Professor Lee Wing-on and Ms Shirley Marie Therese Loo, have been re-appointed.
All five members have been appointed in their personal capacity for a two-year term with effect from July 1, 2011.
An Education Bureau spokesman said, "With these five members' rich experience in education and other sectors of the community, we are confident that they will provide valuable advice and contribute to the work of the EC."
The spokesman also thanked the three outgoing members, Miss Gloria Leung Chi-kin, Mr Tong Chung-fan and Mr Wong Kwan-yu, for their valuable contribution to the work of the EC.
