The Government today (June 24) announced the re-appointment of Professor Anthony Cheung Bing-leung as the Chairman of the Consumer Council for two years, with effect from July 13.
Professor Cheung is the President of the Hong Kong Institute of Education. He has served on the Consumer Council since January 1, 2002 as a member and was appointed Chairman on July 13, 2007.
"During the past four years, under Professor Cheung's leadership, the Council has undertaken consumer protection work with great success. We are confident that with Professor Cheung's rich experience in public service and able leadership, the Council will continue to be a leading advocate for consumer interests and further its consumer protection work," a government spokesman said.
The re-appointment notice is published in the Gazette today.
