Fire victims moved into transit centre
**************************************

The Kowloon City District Office has today (June 20) arranged for residents who were affected by the fire at 111 Ma Tau Wai Road and are in need of temporary accommodation to move into the Shek Lei Transit Centre.

As at 2.30pm, 46 people from 20 households have been provided accommodation at the centre, with one more resident from one household to move in this evening. The temporary shelter at the Sheng Kung Hui Holy Carpenter Church Community Centre has thus ceased operation.

A spokesman for the Home Affairs Department (HAD) said, "We have so far disbursed around $738,000 in relief funds and, in general, each household is entitled to $21,000.

"The HAD will continue to get in touch with registered residents who have yet to receive all the financial assistance. We will also continue to look after the needs of affected residents and provide assistance as appropriate."
