Yuen Long District Council by-election poll cards sent to electors
**********************************************************

Poll cards for the Yuen Long District Council by-election have been sent to more than 10 800 registered electors in Shap Pat Heung North constituency to remind them to cast their votes on June 26.

"Electors who have not yet received their poll cards can make enquiries via the election hotline on 2891 1001," a spokesman for the Registration and Electoral Office (REO) said today (June 16).

"Electors are advised to read carefully the address of the designated polling station on the poll card indicating where they should cast their votes," he said.

The REO has sent to every elector in Shap Pat Heung North constituency a poll card, a map indicating the location of the designated polling station, a guide to the voting procedure, an Introduction to Candidates and a leaflet from the Independent Commission Against Corruption on clean elections.

Three polling stations will be open to electors from 7.30am to 10.30pm on the polling day. They are located at Buddhist Wing Yan School, 6 Fung Yau Street South, Yuen Long; Yuen Long Government Primary School, Yau Chuen Street, Au Tau, Yuen Long; and Chung Sing School, 29 Kau Hui Road, Yuen Long.

Arrangements will be made to allow imprisoned, remanded and detained persons who are registered electors of Shap Pat Heung North constituency to cast their votes in the by-election.

Shap Pat Heung North constituency electors who are remanded or detained by law enforcement agencies (other than the Correctional Services Department) can cast their votes at the dedicated polling station located at Yuen Long Police Station, 246 Castle Peak Road, Yuen Long. The polling hours will be from 7.30am to 10.30pm.

Should there be any Shap Pat Heung North constituency electors imprisoned or remanded in the Correctional Services Department's custody on the polling day, a dedicated polling station will be set up in the respective penal institutions for the imprisoned or remanded electors at that institution to cast their votes. The REO will make an announcement on the opening of dedicated polling stations at penal institutions on June 25. For security reasons, the polling hours for the dedicated polling stations set up in penal institutions will be from 9am to 4pm.

"The voting procedure for electors and the venue setup at the dedicated polling stations are basically the same as those of the ordinary polling stations," the spokesman said.

The two candidates contesting the by-election are Shum Ho-kit (No 1) and Cheng Yin-ping (No 2).
