Hung Hom No 3 fire alarm roundup

     A fire broke out at 111-113 Ma Tau Wai Road in Hung Hom this morning (June 15), killing four persons.  The fire broke out at a shop unit on the ground floor at 111-113 Ma Tau Wai Road and spread to upper floors and other units on the first and second floors.  The shop unit was severely damaged by fire.

     The fire broke out at 3.01am and was upgraded to a No 3 alarm at 3.47am.  It was brought under control at 5.13am.  The fire was largely put out at 5.29am.

     Firemen used three jets and mobilised 11 breathing apparatus teams to fight the blaze.

     A woman, an infant and a boy were found dead on site.  Twenty persons were injured and sent by ambulance to Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) and Kwong Wah Hospital (KWH) for treatment.  One of the injured, an 18-year-old woman succumbed at QEH this afternoon.

     A man and a woman remain hospitalised at QEH.  The man is in critical condition and the woman is in stable condition.  A girl who was transferred to Prince of Wales Hospital (PWH) from QEH is also in stable condition.  A man discharged from QEH earlier is now hospitalised at PWH and is in serious condition.

     During the operation, 12 persons were rescued from the upper floors and another 35 persons were led to place of safety on the ground floor.
