Suspected case of Rotavirus at Queen Elizabeth Hospital

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     The spokesperson of Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) made the following update today (June 12) regarding an earlier announcement on Rotavirus cases in the paediatrics infant ward:

     Another baby (female; two-month-old) in the paediatrics infant ward presented with diarrhea symptom last night. Appropriate tests were arranged for her and the test results are pending.

     Infection control measures of the ward concerned have already been stepped up according to prevailing guidelines. All other patients in the ward are under close medical surveillance.

     The case has been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
