Enhanced Police cooperation between Hong Kong and Singapore and Malaysia (with photos)

     The Commissioner of Police, Mr Tsang Wai-hung, paid courtesy calls on the Commissioner of Singapore Police Force (SPF), Mr Ng Joo-hee, and the Inspector General of the Royal Malaysian Police (RMP), Tan Sri Haji Ismail Bin Haji Omar, on June 7 and today (June 9) respectively.

     During his visit to Singapore and Malaysia, Mr Tsang also met with senior SPF and RMP officials to discuss policing issues of mutual concern. He stressed at the meetings the importance of maintaining a close and dynamic relationship with regional law enforcement partners.

     The Hong Kong Police will work on Memoranda of Understanding with SPF and RMP in order to strengthen training cooperation and to combat transnational crime, including drug trafficking, money laundering and technology crime.

     In Malaysia, Mr Tsang also met with the senior staff of the newly formed Witness Protection Unit. Future plans for training and co-operation were discussed at the meeting.

     Mr Tsang will visit Royal Thai Police tomorrow and return to Hong Kong on Saturday (June 11).
