Hard Rock Cafe opens in Hong Kong in pursuit of its regional ambitions
************************************************************

Hard Rock International celebrated the opening of a Hard Rock Cafe in Hong Kong today (June 7) as part of the expansion of its Asian portfolio. The restaurant is located at the Hotel LKF in Central and is set to be a must-see entertainment and dining venue for visitors and locals alike.

The roughly 400-square-meter Cafe provides 120 seats, a bar, live music area and a Rock Shop featuring Hard Rock's limited-edition merchandise. Memorabilia from the group's iconic collection hangs on the walls of the restaurant, including items from many of the world's most well known musicians, as well as contemporary artists with local ties.

The restaurant will serve American-style cuisine including the Certified Angus Beef Legendary Burgers. Drinks such as its trademark Hurricanes and Margaritas will be served in Hard Rock Cafe's souvenir glassware.

Viet Thai International Company Ltd (VTI) represents Hard Rock Cafe in Vietnam, Hong Kong and South China. Founder and CEO of VTI, Mr David Thai, said, "Located at the heart of the region, Hong Kong is an important market for the Hard Rock Cafe brand in the course of expanding its Asian portfolio. We are excited to establish our business presence in Hong Kong and from this gateway to China to further expand the business into the Mainland."

Mr Thai explained that the company is planning to open another outlet in Kowloon within the next 12 months, demonstrating its confidence in both the tourism and food and beverage industries in Hong Kong.

Associate Director-General of Investment Promotion at Invest Hong Kong, Mr Andrew Davis, said, "Millions of global travellers have voted Hong Kong as one of the top 10 travel destinations worldwide. It is the best in Asia in the 2011 Travelers' Choice Destinations awards by TripAdvisor, in which Hong Kong is the only Asian city among the 10 best cities out of more than 300 global destinations. This compliment has further boosted Hong Kong's attractiveness to visitors, which will greatly benefit the restaurateurs operating in our city."

"Hong Kong boasts more than 11 000 restaurants that provide a wide variety of cuisine to diners. We are delighted to see Hard Rock Cafe here, as it will enrich the city's dining venue portfolio," Mr Davis added.

Starting a business in Hong Kong, for companies large and small, has been further facilitated with the launch of the Government's electronic incorporation service in March 2011. The time required for company incorporation and business registration has now been significantly reduced from four to one working day.
