SEN visits France (with photo)

     The Secretary for the Environment, Mr Edward Yau, today (May 26, French time) started his visit to France, where he will exchange views on environmental protection with relevant parties and learn more about European geological conservation.

     In the morning, he met with the Deputy Mayor of Paris, Mr Pierre Schapira, for an exchange of views on environmental protection. He later met the advisors of the Global Geoparks Network and briefed them on the work and efforts involved in developing a world-class geopark in Hong Kong.

     In the afternoon, Mr Yau joined a business luncheon organised by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Brussels and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. He delivered a keynote speech to French business and community leaders on the business opportunities as Hong Kong charted the way forward as a low-carbon and green city.

     Mr Yau will proceed to Marseille in the evening before visiting a geopark in southern France, the Reserve Geologique de Haute-Provence.
