60 building plans approved in April

     The Buildings Department approved 60 building plans in April - 24 on Hong Kong Island, 20 in Kowloon and 16 in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, 36 were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, 12 were for commercial developments, three were for factory and industrial developments, and nine were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 20 building projects that, when completed, will provide 19 934 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 157 units, and 71 648 square metres of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 12 building projects.

     The department also issued 10 occupation permits - four on Hong Kong Island, four in Kowloon and two in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 15 970 square metres, involving 133 units, and 8 498 square metres for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in April totalled about $0.4 billion.

     In addition, seven demolition consents involving seven building structures were issued.

     The department received 2 530 complaints against unauthorised building works in April, and issued 1 132 removal orders on unauthorised works.
