CSSA caseload for April

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in April showed a decrease of 381 cases from the figure for March, representing a decrease of 0.1%, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (May 25).

     The total CSSA caseload at the end of April stood at 282 351 (see attached table), with a total of 461 600 recipients.

     Analysed by case nature, unemployment cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 0.5% to 29 206 cases, while low-earning cases recorded a decrease of 0.7% to 13 992.

     Both old age and ill-health cases recorded a decrease of 0.1%, down to 153 945 and 25 186 cases, respectively.

     Single-parent cases registered an increase of 0.1% to 34 173, while permanent disability cases remained steady at 18 485.
