The Labour Department will hold a two-day job fair at Metro City Plaza II, Tseung Kwan O, from May 25-26.
A total of 52 companies will participate in the job fair. They come from the retail, catering and property management industries, offering a total of over 3,900 vacancies. Twenty-six organisations will set up counters and conduct on-the-spot recruitment on each day.
Vacancies offered cover a wide variety of positions such as shop assistant, promoter, sales staff, cook, waiter or waitress, dishwasher, kitchen helper, customer-service assistant, security attendant, warehouse assistant, driver, cleaner and shop supervisor. Job seekers who want to know more about the vacancies may visit the department's Interactive Employment Service website (www.jobs.gov.hk).
About 77% of the vacancies offered are full-time jobs. The majority of the vacancies offer a monthly salary ranging from $6,000 to $11,000. About 98% of these vacancies require Secondary Five educational level or below. Over 65% of them are open to job seekers without relevant experience.
Job seekers can submit applications on the spot and may be selected for on-site interviews. The Labour Department will also conduct on-the-spot registration for job seekers.
The job fair will be held from 11am to 5.30pm at Exhibition Area, Level 1, Metro City Plaza II, 8 Yan King Road, Tseung Kwan O. Admission is free.
