Man arrested for cruelty to animal

     Police today (May 13) arrested a 38-year-old man in suspected connection with a cruelty to animal case happened in Yau Ma Tei on May 5.

     On May 10, Police received a report from a woman that an injured cat was found at the rear lane of 4 Nanking Street on May 5. It was suspected that the cat was being shot by air gun. After thorough investigations, Police today arrested a 38-year-old man inside a flat at 202 Temple Street in Yau Ma Tei with the seizure of an air gun and a bag of stainless steel balls.

     The man was arrested for cruelty to animals and is still being detained for further enquiries.

     Investigations by the District Investigation Team of Yau Ma Tei are underway.

     Police are deeply concerned about the recent cruelty to animal cases and maintains close liaison with the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals to enhance the gathering of intelligence on cruelty to animals. Relevant Police District Investigation Teams are now conducting investigation into the cases and anyone who has information to offer is urged to contact the Police immediately.
