The spokesperson for Pok Oi Hospital made the following announcement today (May 13):
Nine patients (four male and five female, aged 65 to 94) of a medical and geriatric ward have presented with symptoms of skin infection since April 28. After clinical tests, six of them have been confirmed to have scabies. The concerned patients have been treated under isolation and are in stable condition, while four patients have been discharged after treatment.
Infection control measures in the ward concerned have been stepped up and all patients in the ward are under close surveillance.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up action.
