Pool and spa builder Barr & Wray sets up regional office in Hong Kong
************************************************************

Barr & Wray Ltd, a UK-based pool and spa builder, today (May 11) announced the successful set up of its Hong Kong regional office, Barr & Wray (H.K.) Ltd. The main role of this office is to facilitate the expansion of the company's project portfolio in southeast Asia.

Barr & Wray has more than 50 years of experience in building pools, spas and swimming pool/water park wave machines. Over the years, the company has served a wide variety of clients from more than 30 countries for some 120 projects. A majority of the clients are luxury hotels, resorts and clubhouses including Swire Hotels, Mandarin Oriental Hotels, Shangri-la Hotels, Ritz Carlton Hotels, Four Seasons, Starwood, MGM, TAJ, The Leela, One & Only, Jumeirah and The Burj Al Arab.

Rapid business growth in the region encouraged the company to set up a regional base in Hong Kong from which to manage clients and projects across southeast Asia and Australasia. The Hong Kong office will focus on undertaking contracts for the engineering design of wet spa areas within hotels and clubhouses as well as wave machines, and commercial swimming pool filtration.

Managing Director of Barr & Wray (H.K.) Ltd, Mr Derek Barton, said, "As the transportation hub of the region, Hong Kong is strategically located at the heart of Asia, which facilitates us in meeting with and serving our clients across the region."

"Compared to other business cities in the region, Hong Kong has a simple, predictable and low tax system, which is undoubtedly a distinctive advantage for our budget control and the possibility of enjoying decent revenue," Mr Barton said.

Associate Director-General of Investment Promotion, Mr Andrew Davis, said, "We are glad to learn that the robust development of the tourism industry in both Hong Kong and Mainland China was one of the determining factors that convinced Barr & Wray to set up its regional base in Hong Kong. Given that the hotel sector is a key target group of the company's business, the increasing demand in the region for hotels and resorts, in particular the luxury ones, will provide Barr & Wray with tremendous business opportunities."

Starting a business in Hong Kong, for companies large and small, has been further facilitated with the launch of the Government's electronic incorporation service in March 2011. The time required for company incorporation and business registration has now been significantly reduced from four to one working day.
