Commemorative Stamp Issue - "150th Anniversary of Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce" (with photo)
************************************************************

Hongkong Post today (May 11) announced that a set of stamps commemorating the "150th Anniversary of Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce" will be released for sale with associated philatelic products on May 26.

The Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC) has the longest history among prominent trade associations in the territory.  It aims to safeguard the interests of local industrial/business communities, to promote Hong Kong as an international business centre located in Asia and to strengthen our global connections.

Set in nostalgic monochrome befitting this special occasion, each stamp depicts a significant milestone in the development of the HKGCC, namely its inauguration in 1861, its designation as an approved authority for certification of origin in 1923, its sponsorship of the Good Citizen Award Scheme in 1973 and the occasion of its first delegation visiting the Mainland in 1978.

Official First Day Covers will be put on sale for $1 each at all post offices from May 12.  Meanwhile, the stamps and associated philatelic products will be displayed at the General Post Office, Tsim Sha Tsui Post Office, Tsuen Wan Post Office and Sha Tin Central Post Office on the same day.  Advance orders for servicing self-provided covers will be accepted at all philatelic offices from May 12 to 18.  Further information may be obtained from the website of Hongkong Post at www.hongkongpost.com.
