A 19-year-old woman died in a No.1 alarm fire in Koway Court, Chai Wan this morning (May 2).
The fire broke out at a domestic unit on 17th Floor, Block 1, Koway Court, at 8.16am.
Firemen used three jets and mobilised four breathing apparatus teams to fight the blaze. The fire was largely put out at 9.10am. About 60 persons from various floors evacuated the building.
Firemen found an unconscious woman at the scene. The woman was then sent to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital where she was certified dead at 8.57am. Two women and a man were also sent to the hospital for treatment.
No suspicious circumstances were detected concerning the cause of the fire.
