66 building plans approved in March

     The Buildings Department approved 66 building plans in March - 15 on Hong Kong Island, 28 in Kowloon and 23 in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, 38 were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, 12 were for commercial developments, six were for factory and industrial developments, and 10 were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 20 building projects that, when completed, will provide 40 640 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 208 units, and 62 693 square metres of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 13 building projects.

     The department also issued 20 occupation permits - five on Hong Kong Island, five in Kowloon and 10 in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 205 061 square metres, involving 2 765 units, and 41 661 square metres for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in March totalled about $1.5 billion.

     In addition, 12 demolition consents involving 12 building structures were issued.

     The department received 2 623 complaints about unauthorised building works in March, and issued 816 removal orders on unauthorised works.
