A total of 152 Fixed Penalty Tickets (FPTs) and 117 summonses were issued to motorists and pedestrians who violated traffic regulations during an operation by Traffic Kowloon East yesterday (April 27).
The Kowloon East Regional Traffic Day was conducted between 7am and 11pm yesterday and 172 officers from Traffic Kowloon East, District Traffic Teams of Wong Tai Sin, Sau Mau Ping and Kwun Tong were deployed to enforce regulations at traffic accident blacksites and potential traffic accident locations in Kowloon East Region.
Another 143 FPTs were issued for illegal parking and other parking offences.
A total of 33 pedestrians were verbally warned for committing jaywalking and other minor traffic offences.
Meanwhile, pamphlets and leaflets on road safety message were also distributed to the road users.
Statistics revealed that a total of 517 traffic accidents with person injured had occurred in Kowloon East Region from January to March 2011.
