Four employers ordered to pay MPF contributions

The following is issued on behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:

     The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (April 27) successfully pursued four claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $29,000 for nine employees who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

     At the Tribunal's hearings today, the four defendants, Wah Tai Farm Company Limited, Yiu Hei International Holding Limited trading as Choi Lung, Cesa Integrated Marketing Limited and Fung Sik Fai trading as Fung Seng Accountancy Service, did not appear. In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sums of $14,238.04, $7,442.94, $6,455.35 and $955.50 respectively, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

     The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The Adjudicator further ordered the four defendants to pay $96, $130, $76 and $84 respectively as the costs of the claims.
