LegCo Subcommittee on Harbourfront Planning continued its duty visit to the United States and Canada (with photos)

     The Legislative Council (LegCo) Subcommittee on Harbourfront Planning continued its duty visit in New York, United States today (April 27). The delegation met with representatives of the Hudson River Park Trust and the New York City Department of City Planning yesterday (April 26).

     The Hudson River Park Trust is responsible for the design, construction and operation of the Hudson River Park in New York, which is the largest open space project in Manhattan of the New York City since the completion of the Central Park. The New York City Department of City Planning, together with the Mayor's Office and the New York City Economic Development Corporation launched the "Waterfront Vision and Enhancement Strategy" in April 2010 for ongoing comprehensive waterfront planning and management in the New York City.

     At the meetings with these two organisations, the delegation had fruitful discussions on waterfront development and regeneration strategies.

     The delegation will visit the Battery Park City and the Brooklyn Bridge Park in New York, followed by meetings with the Battery Park City Authority and the Brooklyn Bridge Park Development Corporation today. The delegation will depart for Vancouver tomorrow (April 28) to continue its visit to Canada.
