Support social enterprises with action

Still thinking about what to do during the Easter holidays? Why not visit the social enterprise booths at the Hong Kong Food Carnival to buy healthy food and organic farm products, and in the process support social enterprises and socially responsible consumption?

The Home Affairs Department (HAD) has sponsored five social enterprises under the "Enhancing Self-Reliance Through District Partnership (ESR) Programme" to take part in the 2nd Hong Kong Food Carnival to be held at Fa Hui Park, Mong Kok from this Thursday (April 21). Details of the participating social enterprises are attached.

A spokesman for the HAD said the department has again arranged social enterprises to participate in the carnival to raise public awareness of social enterprises and to encourage more people to use their products and services.

"Our mission is to promote self-reliance and socially responsible consumption. Public support is the key to the success of social enterprises. The simplest and most direct way to support them is through consumption of their products and services," said the spokesman.

The 2nd Hong Kong Food Carnival is organised by the Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong from April 21 to May 2. The carnival is open from 11am to 8pm daily. Admission fee is $10 and half-rate concession is offered to senior citizens aged 65 or above and people with disabilities. Admission is free for children of one meter in height or below.
