Hong Kong adjusts Outbound Travel Alert for Japan
*************************************************

In view of the latest developments in Japan, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government today (April 18) is maintaining the Black Outbound Travel Alert (OTA) for four prefectures in Japan (i.e. Miyagi, Fukushima, Ibaraki and Iwate Prefectures), but has adjusted the OTA for the rest of Japan to amber.

A Government spokesman said, "Hong Kong residents are urged to avoid all travel to the four prefectures, and those who intend to visit the rest of the country should monitor the situation and exercise caution."

The Security Bureau will continue to closely monitor the situation and issue updates through the media and the OTA webpage www.sb.gov.hk/eng/ota .

Residents outside Hong Kong who need assistance may call the 24-hour hotline of the Assistance to Hong Kong Residents Unit of the Immigration Department at (852)1868.
