Police are investigating a traffic accident in North Point this morning (April 14) in which an 83-year-old woman was killed.
At about 9am, a public light bus driven by a 42-year-old man was travelling along Java Road eastbound. When approaching No. 11 Java Road, it reportedly knocked down the 83-year-old woman who was crossing the road.
Sustaining serious head injuries, the woman was taken to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital where she was certified dead at 10.09am.
The driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death. He is being detained pending further enquiries.
Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island, are underway.
